DeepSeek Immersive Translator Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
DeepSeek Immersive Translator is a Chrome extension that helps users translate visible webpage text and text detected in images into Simplified Chinese. The extension is designed for user-initiated translation and uses the DeepSeek API key configured by the user.
Information Processed by the Extension
The extension may process the following information:
- Visible webpage text selected or collected for translation.
- Text detected from images using OCR when the user clicks the image translation control.
- The user's DeepSeek API key, entered by the user and stored locally in Chrome extension storage.
- Extension settings such as target language, display mode, translation concurrency, shortcut preferences, and site auto-translate rules.
- Translation results returned by the DeepSeek API.
How the Information Is Used
The information above is used only for the extension's single purpose:
- Translating webpage text into the user's target language.
- Translating OCR-detected text from images when the user requests image translation.
- Displaying bilingual or translated content on the current webpage.
- Remembering user settings, including websites that the user chooses to always translate.
- Authenticating translation requests to DeepSeek with the API key provided by the user.
Local Storage
The extension stores settings and the user-provided DeepSeek API key in Chrome extension local storage. This information remains on the user's device unless the user changes settings, clears extension data, or uninstalls the extension.
Third-Party Services
When translation is requested or when auto-translation is enabled for a site, the extension sends the text to be translated to the DeepSeek API. The user's DeepSeek API key is sent to DeepSeek only to authenticate those API requests. DeepSeek's handling of submitted content is governed by DeepSeek's own terms and privacy policy.
The extension does not send translation content to a server controlled by the extension publisher.
Image OCR
Image translation uses OCR to detect text from images on the page. OCR processing is performed only after the user interacts with the image translation control. The detected text may then be sent to DeepSeek for translation.
Data Sharing and Sale
We do not sell user data. We do not use user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated profiling. We do not share user data except as necessary to provide translation through the DeepSeek API requested or enabled by the user.
Remote Code
The extension does not load or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly that is not included in the extension package. Network requests to DeepSeek are used only for API communication and do not download executable extension code.
User Control
Users can update or remove their DeepSeek API key, change translation settings, disable auto-translation for websites, clear extension storage, or uninstall the extension at any time.
